Raising funds and making memories on our annual cycling challenge

In two weeks’ time (June 25), we’ll be heading across the Irish Sea for our annual fundraising bike ride, generating the funds we need to continue our important work enhancing the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds in communities where rugby league is played.

This year’s challenge will see our intrepid fundraisers tackle the Wild Atlantic Adventure, a tough 300-mile route over four memorable days along Ireland’s rugged southern coastline between Cork and Limerick.

The ride is made possible by the support of our generous sponsors including principal partners Boiler Central, Mattioli Woods, Slater Heelis, Howorth Air Tech, The Bartlett Group and NL Commercials.

The riders include our own staff member and ex-Ireland RL international Bob Beswick, Hull FC assistant coach Gareth Ellis, women’s RL great Andrea Dobson and RL Hall of Fame inductee Adrian Morley, all of whom are saddling up in support of our Brain Health Fund.

The fund is allowing us to deliver education programmes to current players, empowering them with the information they need to stay healthy, and provide access to a dedicated Dementia UK nurse for older professional players and their families.

Along the way, our riders will meet some amazing people, thanks in part to our association with Rugby Players Ireland, and make memories that last a lifetime.

That was certainly true a year ago when we cycled across France on le Tour de Rugby League Cares, which raised over £20,000 – here’s a tongue-in-cheek reminder of some of the action from France with a special video created by our trustee (and tour rider) Neville Smith and his company, In Touch Productions.

If you can, please support any of the riders involved in the Wild Atlantic Adventure by making a donation on their Justgiving page.

We hope you enjoy the video!
