Johnny Lawless

Johnny is a former Halifax, Sheffield Eagles and Huddersfield Giants hooker who also represented both England and Ireland at international level during an 11-year playing career.

A junior Great Britain player, Johnny left his home-town club Halifax in the summer of 1995 to become an integral part of the Sheffield Eagles team that made a massive impression on the sport in the early years of Super League.

He was a Challenge Cup final winner at Wembley in 1998 when the Eagles sprang the biggest shock in the competition’s history with their defeat of hot-favourites Wigan.

Since retiring in 2004, Johnny runs a fabrication business within the construction industry. He is also Managing Director of Minds Matter, a company which delivers mental health first aid training, promotes mental health awareness and wellbeing, and aims to reduce the stigma associated with mental health.
