In Touch Productions become Media Partners of le Tour de Rugby League Cares

Rugby League Cares is thrilled to announce one of the world’s most respected sports broadcasters, In Touch Productions, as the official media partner of the charity’s most ambitious fundraising challenge, le Tour de Rugby League Cares.

In Touch have a wealth of broadcasting experience across major sporting events, including three Olympic Games, US Major golf championships, Hong Kong Rugby 7s, Channel 4’s Super League coverage and Super League Grand Finals.

The company’s logo will feature on the jerseys worn on the 500-mile, six-day trans-European adventure by all the riders, who include RL Hall of Fame inductee Adrian Morley, ex-Great Britain winger Nathan McAvoy, former Super League referee Thierry Alibert and current France RL Federation vice-president Patrick Pedrazzani.

In Touch will also be represented on the ride across France by their Managing Director and founder Neville Smith, a passionate supporter of RL Cares and its work who is saddling up for the charity’s annual challenge for the fourth time. Neville has twice joined the Ride to Wembley and last year completed the unforgettable Empire State 500 ride from Niagara Falls to New York city.

In a 30-year career with Sky Sports, Neville produced and directed over 4,000 live weekly Rugby League broadcasts, including 21 Super League Grand Finals, the 2000 RL World Cup final, Ashes series, home Tri-Nations series and four Great Britain and England tours of Australia and New Zealand.

In 2010 he was elevated onto the RFL Roll of Honour for outstanding services to the game and in 2019 he joined the Board of Trustees at RL Cares.

“I have nothing but admiration for the work of RL Cares and the ways in which it enhances and enriches the lives of people involved at all levels of this great sport,” said Neville.

“The support RL Cares provides to the athletes whose exploits on the pitch week in, week out leave us in awe every single week really is first class.

“In Touch Productions are honoured to be able to help the work of RL Cares by becoming media partner of le Tour de Rugby League Cares and we are looking forward to playing our small part in this great adventure.”

In Touch Productions will support social media output throughout the duration of le Tour de Rugby League Cares and will produce a film telling the story of the event after the riders have completed their epic journey.

Chris Rostron, the Head of RL Cares, said: “We would like to thank Neville and his team at In Touch Productions for their support of our biggest fundraising event of the year.

“We are delighted to have someone with Neville’s stature in the game involved with the charity, and taking part another challenge with us as well.”

Le Tour de Rugby League Cares takes place over six days from Sunday June 11 when 17 riders will set out from Biarritz on France’s rugged Atlantic coast following a testing and at times gruelling route across the continent to the Mediterranean beach at Canet-en-Roussillon near Perpignan.

Along the way, the riders will visit town and cities with a strong rugby league heritage and cement links between the two nations.

All funds raised on le Tour de Rugby League Cares will help the charity continue making a positive difference to the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds in the communities where the sport is played.
