The Halfords store at Kirkstall in Leeds is providing spares and cycling equipment to keep the 26 riders involved in the epic challenge in the saddle throughout the five days of the ride.
Halfords were also the official equipment supplier of the inaugural Ride to Wembley in 2017 and Chris Rostron, the Head of Rugby League Cares, is delighted to welcome them on board again.
“I would like to extend the thanks of all the riders and everyone involved in the charity to Halfords for their generous support of the UK Red Ride to Wembley,” said Chris.
“Halfords’ involvement is fantastic recognition of the work we do in the communities where Rugby League is played and it’s great to have such a recognisable and trusted brand on board for a second successive year.”
This year’s ride sees 26 cyclists set off from Old Trafford on Monday August 20, negotiating canal towpaths, forest trails, green lanes and bridleways on a gruelling 300-mile route to Wembley Stadium.
The riders include six former Rugby League internationals: Gareth Ellis, Mick Cassidy, Paul Highton, Robbie Hunter-Paul, Nathan McAvoy and Andy Lynch. A seventh ex-international, Keith Senior, will be driving one of the support vehicles.
All the proceeds from the ride will help fund RL Cares’s vital work, which includes player welfare, men’s health and social engagement.
Rugby League fans can sponsor the participants on the 2018 UK Red Ride to Wembley by making a donation on any of the group’s Justgiving pages. To make a donation, please click here
