Julie joins the charity with more than 30 years’ experience as a qualified careers advisor, helping adults and young people identify and take up new career opportunities.
Since 2011, Julie has worked with the RFL in a consultancy role but joins the charity on a full-time basis to step up her work with professional and semi-professional Rugby League payers.
The move follows the announcement earlier this month that RL Cares has taken on full responsibility for delivering player welfare services to Super League, Championship and League 1 players.
Chris Rostron, the Head of RL Cares, said: “We are delighted to have Julie on board and are looking forward to harnessing her wealth of experience to help players make the most of all the opportunities that await them at the end of their playing careers.
“Julie is already well known to many members of the playing community and her work with the charity in a full-time capacity ensures that many more players will benefit from her expertise.
“Julie’s appointment is another important step in our ongoing efforts to provide more services and an enhanced support network for players across the game.”
Julie Measures said: “I am thrilled to have this opportunity to join RL Cares at such an exciting time for the sport.
“We have made some great strides over the last few years and players are now more aware than ever of the need to begin planning for their next career move as early as they can.
“Joining RL Cares allows me to be completely focussed on the role and co-ordinate what I do with the other fantastic work of the charity.”
