New job roles: Community and Welfare Officers

Due to an expansion of our work and funding streams, RL Cares is looking to appoint both full- and part-time Community and Welfare Officers to work across the charity to support its work within the sport.

We are looking for current or former professional men and women players who are highly motivated, have great communication skills, are passionate about supporting others and great team players.

Successful applicants will undertake varied jobs across the charity, both within our welfare and community programmes. Typical job roles include:

    • * Supporting the delivery of educational workshops within Super League scholarship and Academy programmes;
    • * Supporting the development and delivery of a social programme to sit within RL Cares’s transition support for professional players due to, or currently retiring from the game.
    • * Support of existing transition programmes delivered through RL Cares’s Player Welfare programme;
    • * Delivering on our community health and wellbeing programmes, including:
      • – Ahead of the Game: mental fitness coaching sessions for community players aged 12-18 years, parents and coaches;
      • – Offload: mental fitness coaching for adults aged 18-plus, delivered in partnership with Super League club foundations and in the workplace;
      • – NHS Recruitment and Retention: supporting our programmes which aim to improve the health and wellbeing of NHS staff and help the NHS recruit new people into NHS roles.
  • * Helping develop and run a new ‘Players Portal’, which will provide online guidance and support to all professional players;
  • * Working across all programmes to increase engagement, monitor outcomes and improve services where possible;
  • * Supporting RL Cares’s fundraising and other charity events.

The roles will involve both daytime and evening work.

Full time, fixed term post (minimum 2-year contract).
