Hull author Keith Pollard makes £1,000 donation

Rugby League Cares and the RL Benevolent Fund have received a second £500 donation from Hull author and former Hull KR player Keith Pollard.

The donation is from the proceeds of sales of Keith’s latest book, There Won’t Be Anymore, the third of his Askenes Trilogy, which tells the story of a girl who runs away from her home in Hull and has twin boys, one of whom grows up in the UK and the other in Australia.

Keith presented his latest cheque to RL Benevolent Fund General Manager Steve Ball and Pete Stephenson, the RFL’s Professional Game Registration Manager who has been supported by the Benevolent Fund since dislocating his neck playing for Hull Dockers.

“On behalf of the rugby league charities I would like to thank Keith for his generous donations,” said Steve Ball.

“Keith’s work is embedded with the values of a true rugby league man and to have raised so much money for so many good causes is fantastic.”

Keith has so far raised £11,000 from the sales of the trilogy and his autobiography, Red and White and Phoenix. The proceeds have been split among six worthy causes: RL Cares, Alpha 1 Antitrypsin UK Support Group, Mose Masoe, Rob Burrow, Hull 4 Heroes and The Hull Fishing Heritage Museum.

Keith began his own rugby league journey as a player at Boulevard High School followed by games at Constable Youth Club and Hull & District RL.

He went on to enjoy a 15-year professional career with Hull KR, York, Keighley, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity, as well as a spell in Australian country league with Newcastle-based Maitland Pumpkin Pickers.
