Rugby League Cares has secured UK Red Security and Fire Systems as the headline sponsor of its most ambitious-ever fundraising challenge, the UK Red Empire State 500.
The Leeds-based company have been title sponsors of the Ride to Wembley for the last three years and have once again showed their support for the charity as title sponsors of the exciting event.
The UK Red Empire State 500 is a 500-mile off-road cycling challenge from the famous Niagara Falls to New York City and will involve 20 riders taking the road less travelled along the Erie Canal, Iroquois River and Appalachian Trail over six-gruelling days.
UK Red Security and Fire Systems Managing Director Kevin Walton will take part on the ride alongside Rugby League legends including Sam Burgess, whose involvement was confirmed last week.
“UK Red are delighted to have the opportunity to continue our special relationship with Rugby League Cares by becoming title sponsors of this unique challenge,” said Kevin.
“All the team at UK Red Security and Fire Systems have nothing but admiration for the work of the charity, and it is fantastic that we are able to again play a part in helping RL Cares make a positive difference to the lives of people across our great sport.
“My colleagues keep reminding me that the woods in upstate New York are home to wild animals and I think they’re looking forward to finding out if I can pedal faster than a bear can run! I’m sure the bears will think twice once they see Sam and the other Rugby legends we have with us!
“It’s going to be fabulous experience for everyone and, more importantly, an opportunity to raise a lot of money for a very worthy cause.”

The UK Red Empire State riders will fly into Toronto on Friday 1st May and attend the Toronto Wolfpack v St Helens fixture the following day, when RL Cares will be the Wolfpack’s gameday charity partner.
After the match, the riders travel to Niagara Falls USA, from where they set off on Sunday morning on their six-day cycle ride through the heart of New York State, arriving in Central Park, Manhattan, on Friday May 8.
