2018 UK Red Ride to Wembley

2018 UK Red Ride to Wembley

On Monday August 20, 22 intrepid riders with Rugby League in their blood will set out from Old Trafford, Manchester, bound for Wembley Stadium and the biggest date in the sport’s calendar – the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup final.

Avoiding roads whenever and wherever possible, the riders will cycle 300 tough miles through the heart of England over the next five days.

UK Red Fire and Security have once again agreed to be the headline sponsors of the ride, which is again being supported by our partners All Sport Insurance.  We will be announcing other sponsors over the next few weeks.

The ride is scheduled to end at the Wembley Legends statue on the stadium concourse on the afternoon of Friday August 24 – 24 hours before the Challenge Cup final kicks off.

The riders include many true Rugby League legends, including ex-Kiwi international Robbie Hunter-Paul, former Leeds Rhinos stars Chev Walker and Keith Senior, recently retired Castleford Tigers skipper Andy Lynch and Gareth Ellis, the man who lifted the Challenge Cup trophy at Wembley as captain of winners Hull FC in both 2016 and 2017.

Sponsors, fans and RL Cares members of staff are also riding on this great sporting adventure in its second year and doing what they can to exceed the £20,000 total raised for the charity in 2017.

Most of the riders have their own Justgiving page linked to the one – if you would like to sponsor an individual rider, please visit their page. Or if you would simply like to make a donation to the ride in recognition of the outstanding work done by RL Cares, please donate on here.

Any support you can provide is really appreciated. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Rugby League Cares. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
