Wild Atlantic Adventurers are dressed to thrill thanks to Oxen Sports

The riders on Rugby League Cares’s biggest fundraiser of 2024, the Wild Atlantic Adventure, have saddled up for their 300-mile bike ride around Ireland resplendent in fantastic kit donated by apparel sponsors Oxen Sports.

The specially-designed cycling jerseys feature high-tech fabrics and an athletic cut to keep the riders comfortable and looking smart throughout the four-day challenge. Oxen have also donated T shirts for the riders to wear when they’re off the bike.

The donation strengthens the partnership between RL Cares and Oxen, who have been the charity’s official apparel supplier since May last year.

The riders who set out from Cork on their Irish adventure on Wednesday included former rugby league internationals Adrian Morley, Andrea Dobson, Gareth Ellis, Nathan McAvoy and Bob Beswick, plus ex-Ireland RU international Niall Woods.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the team at Oxen for this wonderful gesture of support for the Wild Atlantic Adventure,” said RL Cares Chief Executive Chris Rostron.

“The jerseys look amazing and have already had a great reception in Ireland, both from the riders and the locals who are very impressed with the Irish theme of the design.

“We are very fortunate to have supporters like Oxen Sports, who have once again gone above and beyond to show their support for our important work.”

The Wild Atlantic Adventure starts in Cork on Wednesday June 26 and finishes four days later in Limerick and will involve the riders taking on some of the most challenging on-road terrain that Ireland has to offer.

The ride takes place in association with Boiler Central, a Wakefield-based central heating company who supply, instal and service central heating systems across the UK, and in partnership with Rugby Players Ireland, the organisation that delivers welfare and wellbeing support to rugby union players across the island of Ireland.

All the proceeds from the ride will enable RL Cares to deliver education programmes on brain health to current players and provide dementia support to retired professional players and their families.
