Founders Walk 2015

Be part of the Founders' Walk

The Founders’ Walk is a big fundraising event organised by the RFL and supported by

RL Cares. The plan is to walk 120 miles to celebrate 120 years of Rugby League.

The event takes place over six days from 19-24 July. The whole Rugby League family is invited to join in and celebrate the anniversary and support good causes in the game.

There are two easy and fun ways to get involved.

  • Join in the big walk covering 120 miles in six days. You can walk on all or any of the days.
  • Or choose one of the shorter 2-5 mile Community Walks with your local team.

All the routes make their way through some of the key historical locations linked to the early days of our sport. Together we will visit every one of the original 22 clubs who formed the Northern Union in 1895 at the George Hotel in Huddersfield. Rugby League celebrities will join different parts of the walks, raising the profile of our good causes and our anniversary.

Together we can support those in the sport who need help – and celebrate our proud history.

To take part, please register with a £5 donation to RL Cares – and you will receive a participant pack.

More information

The Community Walks follow local routes of 2-5 miles. They start at various times each day depending upon the route of the main group.  Community Walks are a great way for friends, families and fans to celebrate 120 years of Rugby League and raise funds for your local RL good causes (see fundraising info below). Dress up, bring the kids, bring the dog – it’s up to you!

Please see the download below for dates, start and finish locations, timings and distances of the 120 mile route.

Rugby League Cares staff and volunteers will be on hand to meet and greet and support everyone taking part in the 120 mile walk. Personal belongings can be left with Rugby League Cares staff and volunteers. A number of pre-arranged meeting points have been organised along the route for everyone to rest and eat lunch.
